A few more useless sites
People spend lots of time creating useless sites. Pay them a visit! From the Tampa Tribune, Nov. 14, 1997 (Friday Extra) Too often I hear people saying, "I can't find anything useful on the Net." Well, if you're only looking for sites that are useful, you're missing out on too much fun. As we've said before here at Lost in Space, sites that are useless make the best Web pages. And the unofficial home of those sites can be found at http://www.go2net.com/internet/ useless/For some classics, check out the Home for Retired Useless Pages with "over 900 links to the utterly useless!" It's here that you'll find links to The Slightly Less Than Official Spork Homepage. Yes, this dandy at http://www.spork.org/ is dedicated to that utensil with a split personality. It's a fork! It's a spoon! The site claims, "a spork is completely inappropriate as an eating utensil," but offers other uses, such as "Pull out all but the edge prongs, rip off the handle and stick it in your mouth. Instant Dracula!" There are also spork pop culture sightings: "The band Soup threw out one thousand of them during shows." Another site sent in to the Retired Useless Pages list is Mike's World Wide Web of Barfbags at http://www.tns.lcs.mit.edu/~izzy/barfbag.html Mike assures us: "I only collect unused ones," which allowed us to investigate further before lunch. Not only does Mike offer pictures provided on Continental and United flights, but he also provides us a touch of worldliness, including a snapshot of a regurgitation receptacle from KLM in Ireland. "A pretty unremarkable barf bag, except for the lack of the fold-over tabs at the top to securely close the bag," he notes. "Don't be using this guy to save your seat."
